What’s EMU OIL and what’s it DO?
For centuries, the Aboriginal people of Australia have used Emu Oil for a variety of skin conditions and have attributed miraculous healing powers to it. Emu Oil is rendered from a thick layer of fat on the Emu’s back, yielding 5-7 liters of unsaturated, non-toxic, highly penetrating oil. As a result, Emu Oil is effective when used as a skin moisturizer, antiseptic and as an aid in the relief of sunburn muscular aches and joint pain.
Traditional methods of treatment would see the aboriginal people place pure emu fat on affected areas and allow the hot sun to liquefy it. The oil would then be massaged into the skin, muscles or wound. The use of oil was among many natural remedies adopted by settlers and was predominantly used in the treatment of bruised tissue, burns and dry skin problems. It has frequently been tested by government and private laboratories and found to contain a number of fatty acids, including three fatty acids (Omega 3, 6 & 9) vital for healthy skin and cell reproduction.
